This piece is accompanied by the note: “After years of abuse and hard work embellishment seemed well earned”

The shovel has been kindly donated to the History in a Box project by an ardent supporter. The “handle” is Jarrah timber with Mother of Pearl inlays. The base of the shovel has been worn away by presumably, many years of use. Fabricated Mother of Pearl slivers form the replacement of the eroded parts at the base of the shovel.
